Photo Backup 2.4.0 Creates Resilient Archives for Digital Photographs

OnTheGoSoft has released Photo Backup 2.4.0 for Windows, made especially for professional photographers, storing photo archives in commercial strength databases.

Bariloche, Argentina (PRWeb) December 4, 2006 -- Backing up digital photos is useful only if people can find their way around in their file collections. Having to go through a collection of DVDs, filled with digital photos, is not what you had in mind when you made your back up, is it?

Photo Backup takes another major step in helping people protect an archive of photos. The software lets users store the archive information in a commercial strength MySQL database. Photo Backup knows which files have already been backed up and which are new or modified and burns only these files. Every time Photo Backup burns files to a DVD, it automatically updates the database -- performing real incremental backup.

Different computer users operating in the same office can access the same database, providing centralized management for all work. An HTML index also lets users browse the archive from any computer -- without any software installed.

This means that, even if the computer crashes and the hard drive is damaged, the photo archive is completely safe. Users can quickly search the archive using thumbnails organized by folder, date, disc or tagged by Photo Backup. Then, people can select the photos needed and Photo Backup retrieves them.

If a person already has a collection of DVDs with existing backups, Photo Backup can fit right in with his workflow. The software sorts through the DVDs in minutes, indexes the files, and records what's already burned. Then, Photo Backup picks up the archive process from that point and continues to burn only new files.

Photo Backup runs under Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and costs $29.95(US). You can download a fully featured 14-day evaluation version from the company website: http://www.onthegosoft.com.
