Take A Chill Pill, Why Don't You?

mychillpill, a brand-new social network for Prozac Nation, has been launched. Their Motto? "We've Got Issues - Social Networking for the Unbalanced."

New York, New York (PRWEB) July 25, 2008 -- Facebook. MySpace. Orkut. These networks have become the gold-standard of social networking - changing the definition of the Internet from something that happens "to you" to something that you can interact with. This is, in fact the guiding principle of Web 2.0.

But as Web 2.0 matures, users are moving away from gigantic, heterogeneous networks of people with little in common, to more focused, smaller networks of people who have much to discuss and much in common.

We've Got Issues - Social Networking For The Unbalanced
Enter mychillpill. Their motto is, "We've Got Issues - Social Networking For The Unbalanced," and it is precisely this irreverent tongue-in-cheek sense of humor and the sense that it is filling a need that has long since needed filling, that is quickly attracting members. Misery loves company, as they say.

Josh H., who has for the past several months maintained his own successful anxiety blog, was "compelled" to invite all of his friends to the new network.

"This was long overdue. Often people were left lost looking for a quick and convenient place to find the info they needed, " he commented.

As the title implies, mychillpill combines the core functions of any social network. Blogs, forums, video, and more -- and all from a unique perspective of one 'with issues' - ranging from the trials and petty disappointments of everyday life, to the more serious.

The creators have not shied away from discussing their motivations for creating such a network.

"The core aim in the creation of Mychillpill was to keep the focus on social networking, but ensure that the focus would remain on social health issues," commented Sean Bowen, one of the creators.

To add to the mix, is the fact that most of the creators have experienced some sort of mental or emotional distress themselves.

"Hopefully, mychillpill will become a sort of 'comfort zone' for people who ordinarily wouldn't even talk to their friends or family about these things," said Mr. Bowen.

mychillpill will be moving to its own domain shortly, www.mychillpills.com.
